My name is Anne Harris, and I’m qualified as a Blue Badge Guide for Wales, which allows me to show visitors around my home. I’m able to introduce visitors to my own favourite parts of the country and several lesser known locations as well as the well known ‘tourist’ sites.
I was born and brought up in a Welsh speaking household not far from where I live now, in Anglesey, North Wales. Anglesey is well known for its beaches and as a good area for walking and cycling holidays. Perhaps its wealth of standing stones and burial chambers are less well known, but these are also fascinating and as a child I linked them in my mind with folk tales, especially the stories of the Mabinogi, one of which has associations with the area.
Food tourism is an increasingly important market in Wales, and I have to admit to liking food so I really enjoy trying out samples from a wealth of small businesses providing fresh local produce of every description.
As well as working as a tour guide, I have an interest in historical mines, folk dancing and music. I’m a member of a local Morris dancing group, and trying to learn to play the fiddle (my husband would say it's very trying!). My favourite occupations include walking in the wonderful North Wales countryside looking at interesting and historical sites. I’m fortunate to live in such an interesting part of the country.
